Take Diversity Training
BC HRMA’s professional development program goal is to provide high-quality learning opportunities on various HR-related subjects, including diversity training. Every year we offer workshops, seminars, forums, and e-learning covering various aspects of diversity in the workplace.

Some studies indicate that diversity training provides many benefits for companies such as expanding diversity recruitment, higher employee retention rates, improved employee performance and morale (both individual and team) and reduces harassment incidences and discrimination lawsuits.

Other studies suggest that mentoring initiatives might be more effective than diversity training in ensuring immigrant and women career promotion within companies. Therefore, some general workshops on establishing mentoring initiatives or active listening might also be beneficial for enhancing overall diversity practices within organizations. Watch the online calendar for upcoming diversity workshops.

Partner with Immigrant-Serving Non-Governmental Organizations
There are many immigrant-serving agencies that deliver government-funded employment programs. These programs are designed to assist skilled immigrants in labour market attachment. Additionally, these programs cover a variety of services including case management, job search clubs, bridging, and internship and mentorship programs.

Some of these initiatives are not only relevant to immigrants but also benefit the HR and business community looking to tap into the immigrant talent pool. Each year, local immigrant-serving agencies organize and/or deliver career fairs designed to link employers to immigrant professionals looking for work.

Take advantage and connect with local immigrant serving agencies.
