Professional Development Presentation Proposals

Our professional development programs are designed to:

  • support the 8 competency areas of the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation:  Professional Practice in Human Resources; Organization Effectiveness; Staffing; Employee & Labour Relations; Total Compensation; Organizational Learning, Development and Training; Workplace Health and Safety; and Human Resources Information Management
  • be accessible throughout the province of British Columbia
  • be affordable to attendees
  • further participant knowledge on the latest HR best practices by offering learning opportunities profession
Our presentation format is diverse including onsite seminars, teleconference and, and e-learning. Preference will be given to half and full day workshop proposals.

Our members have expressed strong interest in the areas of:

  • Training and Development
  • Organizational Development
  • Mentoring
  • Health and Wellness
  • Reward & Recognition
  • Succession/Career Talent Management
  • Labour Relations 
In addition, we are extending our services to include learning specifically geared towards consultants and specific industries such as education, public sector, high tech, banking and finance,. Other topics, of benefit and interest to HR professionals will also be considered. 

Presentations should be specific in nature; include handout materials, and provide an interactive, thought-provoking experience for participants.

All submitters, are encouraged to include, or partner with clients to co-present and share real-life examples of your topic.

We ask presenters not to actively sell their products or services during their presentations. Knowledgeable speakers who provide the audience with useable and relevant  information will easily pique interest and be asked for further resources.

BC HRMA does not pay presenter honoraria  we ask our presenters to donate their time and expertise.   BC HRMA will pay for workshop materials, venues, audio visual equipment, food and beverage during professional development sessions.  If travel is  required. presenters are to  make arrangements and will be reimbursed according to agreed upon limit and per diem.

How to Submit a Professional Development Presentation Proposal to BC HRMA

All proposals must be submitted through our online process. 

Before you access the online proposal submission at the bottom of this page, please have all your information ready. Partially completed submissions cannot be saved. 

You will require the following information to submit your proposal:

  • Your name and contact information (address, postal code, phone, fax, email, website, membership status with HRMA) and that of any other person presenting with you
  • Title of your presentation (for the most effective marketing of your session, please make sure your title matches the learning objectives)
  • One paragraph describing your presentation (up to 600 words)
  • Presenter bio, as it will appear in marketing material and on the website, for each presenter (up to 400 words)
  • Qualification summary including education, designations, awards, publications  for each presenter
  • Five to ten key learning objectives (what the participant will learn) - dependent upon the length of your session - make sure these are SMART (specific, measurable, accountable, realistic, timely)
  • Target audience identification for this presentation (emerging, mid-level, strategic or expert)
  • A statement of who should attend and get the most benefit out of this workshop to be used in marketing materials and on our website (up to 200 words)
  • The area of competency (as defined by the CHRP Competency Framework) that your presentation encompasses.  View this framework (pdf 438K)
  • Length of presentation (2 hour, half- or full-day workshop)
  • Two references (per presenter) who can attest to your knowledge, capability and presentation skills.  This should include individuals who have personally viewed this session or have knowledge of your expertise on this particular subject.  (Name, position, company, phone, email and nature of relationship)
