1. Do you have to be an HR professional to join?
No, you do NOT have to be an HR professional to join. Our membership consists of people from a variety of disciplines.
2. Is there a membership discount for students?
Yes, you must be a part-time or full-time student currently enrolled in an undergraduate program including HR courses;

You must submit proof of enrolment (consisting of an unofficial transcript or a letter from your school) and your expected completion date.
3. How long does it take to become a member?
Upon receipt of payment; allow 2-3 days before receiving an email confirmation welcoming you and providing your member login information.
4. What are the benefits of being a member?
Please visit the Member Benefits are under the Membership button on the front page of the BC HRMA website.
5. When does my membership come up for renewal?
One year from the date you joined.
6. How do I renew my membership?
You will receive a notice to renew and you can pay online, over the phone, fax or through the mail.
7. What is considered proof of student status?
We require an unofficial transcript or proof of current, confirming your current registration in the educational institution and enrollment in a qualifying program. All documentation must include your name, program and course details, including your expected completion date.
8. How can I change my contact information?
Sign into your on-line account and click on “Modify Contact & Mailing Information.”
9. What is my Personal Profile?
Your Personal Profile provides BC HRMA with a picture of who you are and what you are interested in so that we can provide you with the best possible service. To update your profile sign into your on-line account and click on “Update Personal Profile.”
10. I am moving. Can I transfer my membership to another HR Association?
Unfortunately, we cannot transfer your membership across provincial associations but we can transfer your CHRP designation. Please visit CHRP FAQs for more information.
11. Do you have to be a member to attend a mingle?
No, you do NOT have to be a member. This is a good opportunity to network with other members.
12. Can a membership transfer from one former employee to another new hire?
Yes it can. The former employee must give permission to allow the transfer and upon that; the new hire will acquire the membership with the payment period of the former employee.
13. Our organization has many members; can we get a discount?
BC HRMA currently does not offer discounts for multiple memberships.
14. Who are the other members?
Membership consists of HR professionals, consultants, lawyers, instructors, students and professionals from a variety of disciplines.
15. Do you send out a membership directory?
Our directory is online and assessible only to members. The directory lists members by name and by company.
16. Can you verify information about a member?
BC HRMA does NOT give out information about its members. Members do, however, have access to each other's contact information via the member directory.
