What is a BC HRMA Roundtable?
Roundtables are self-administering groups of BC HRMA members who meet on a regular basis to discuss HR issues of mutual interest. The focus can be an area of practice, industry sector, or type of practice. Each group has a chairperson who is the contact person with the BC HRMA office. Non-members may attend roundtable meetings for a nominal drop-in fee.

Participation in a special-interest roundtable provides excellent opportunities for professional development, support, and the most productive kinds of networking. You will also be working towards CHRP recertification by gaining valuable CE credits. Is your special-interest missing? Get involved and start a new roundtable!
General Information
Roundtables are free to members of BC HRMA. Non-members are welcome to attend for the fee of $20 + GST per session in Coastal Vancouver and Greater Vancouver and $10 + GST in all other regions. Exception: the Career Advancement Network (CAN) Roundtables are open to BC HRMA members only.

This is a virtual roundtable for Bilingual HR professionals from across the province. You are invited to address a wide variety of HR and business topics, including information about the local Francophone community and associations.

Burnaby Roundtable
The Burnaby Roundtable is intended to serve the needs of the growing HR
community in Burnaby. Discussion topics will cover various aspects of
HR, including employment, benefits, labour relations, and training, and
will be of particular value to those HR practitioners working in a
generalist capacity.
Meetings will be held monthly, except for summer (July - August), for a total of 10 meetings per year. All meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month, from 8:00am to 9:30am.

Career Advancement Network (CAN) Roundtables
The CAN Roundtables in Coastal and Greater Vancouver are open to BC HRMA members, including consultants, seeking career advancement, part-time and/or semi-retirement opportunities. The purpose of these roundtables is to provide a vehicle for members to network, support and learn from others who are also taking responsibility for their professional development and career growth.

Chilliwack Roundtable
The Chilliwack Roundtable was launched to serve as an information-sharing resource and discussion group for HR professionals in Chilliwack and the surrounding area. Consultants Roundtable
The Consultants Roundtable is a "home" for those that wear two hats: an HR professional and an entrepreneur. Whether you work independently, with partners, call yourself a consultant or contractor, are a generalist or specialize in one area of HR, this roundtable is for you. We focus on issues unique to HR consultants, share our experiences, and help each other build our businesses. Through collaboration and the true spirit of networking, we are also a fine referral network.

Diversity in the Workforce Roundtable
The Diversity in the Workforce Roundtable focuses on topics pertaining to diversity within the workplace, including but not limited to cultural, gender, Aboriginal and workers with disabilities. This roundtable will be of interest to individuals who would like to share and learn more about diversity in the workplace for the purpose of increasing awareness on this topic.

Fraser Valley Roundtable
The Fraser Valley Roundtable is intended for human resources professionals living or working in the Fraser Valley. It is designed to provide a variety of networking and professional development opportunities in an informal atmosphere. Practitioners share ideas and best practices, brainstorm solutions to people issues, investigate effective workplace strategies, and learn about current human resources issues and legislation. Meeting locations may alternate between Langley and Abbotsford.

Kootenay Roundtables

Leadership Forum
The Leadership Forum is a group of senior practitioners from BC's medium and larger organizations. Its purpose is to provide a confidential forum for discussion/dialogue on issues of interest.
The criteria for membership in the Leadership Forum are:
- Heads of HR function in major BC employers
- Heads of employment law practice in major BC law firms
- Heads of HR practice in major BC consulting firms
- BC HRMA past presidents
- Current BC HRMA President
- BC HRMA CEO
- CEO/Presidents of firms with no HR function

Lone Riders
This is a roundtable for practitioners managing HR functions in small to medium-sized organizations; likely a sole practitioner or someone who is leading a small team. This group meets "virtually" to share knowledge, seek advice, and provide support for one another.
In order to become a member of the Lone Riders, you have to meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid membership with the BC HRMA.
- Manage the HR function (likely a sole practitioner or leading a small team).
- Work in a small or medium-sized organization.
- Inform roundtable chairs of your motivation to become part of the group in a few sentences.
Upon membership approval you will have access to a wealth of knowledge from a solid group of HR professionals. The Lone Rider membership, from all across British Columbia, represents a variety of industries in both union and non-union settings. Members discuss a variety of HR and business-related topics.

Mid-Vancouver Island - Learning Roundtable
The Mid-VI Learning Roundtable provides HR practitioners and consultants the opportunity to gather once a month, top up their knowledge, share successes and lessons-learned, and take away practical tips, tools and techniques. Each session has a designated topic and a lead facilitator(s) who will guide participants through an experiential learning process where the knowledge gained will be applied to real-life situations and issues. A variety of formats will be used depending on the topic and the facilitator including group discussions, case studies, examination-application of best practices, demonstrations, role-plays, expert panel Q & As.
The Mid-VI Learning Roundtable will be held every third Thursday of every month from 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Participants are encouraged to bring sample scenarios for discussion.

New Professionals Roundtable
This roundtable was launched to serve the upcoming and new HR professionals in the Fraser Valley with a collaborated effort from the FV Advisory Council Post Secondary Liaison and BC HRMA student representatives at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Trinity Western University and the University of the Fraser Valley. Students, recent graduates and emerging professionals will learn the skills needed for success through interactive sessions in networking, communication, and many ways to advance your career.
This roundtable occurs four times a year to accommodate the school calendar in September, November, March and May. The preferred evening is Monday from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

Northern Region Roundtables
The Northern Region Roundtable provides HR practitioners, consultants and students with the opportunity to gather once a month, top up their knowledge, share successes and lessons-learned, and take away practical tips, tools and techniques. North Island Generalist Roundtable
The North Island Generalist Roundtable provides HR practitioners the opportunity to gather once a month to discuss a specific topic related to the field of Human Resources. Each session will be facilitated by an HR professional who has volunteered to guide participants through the topic. The purpose is to allow for sharing of knowledge, strategies, lessons-learned, and practical tips, tools, and techniques. Participants will be encouraged to actively engage in the discussion, ask questions, and provide real scenarios. A variety of formats will be used depending on the topic and the facilitator (i.e. group discussions, case studies etc.).
HR practitioners at every level and with varying degrees of education and experience are encouraged to attend. Topics will cover all of the Required Professional Capabilities of the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.

Vancouver Island Book Club - Habitual Readers Mastermind Academy (HRMA)
Do you love to read? Are you keen on exploring leading edge HR and business knowledge? Do you enjoy learning and sharing thoughts with others? If so, the Habitual Readers' Mastermind Academy is for you.
Each month a discussion topic that will engage the group is chosen. As background to the discussion there is a suggestion of a book that will challenge the group and support the topic for the evening. The purpose of the Mastermind Book Club is to provide a forum where BC HRMA members can tap into the experiences of the group and link to vast array of HR related literature. Not everyone will have time to read every book before each meeting so please join us regardless and share your experience and learn together.

Vancouver Island- Lunch Hour Connection
This is an opportunity to bring HR issues that matter most to you, share your thoughts, seek advice and generate discussions with your peers. At the beginning of each session, the participants are invited to bring forth their ideas and the group will collectively select the topic based on the interest of the group.
The meeting will be facilitated by Kathy Obad who is a recent graduate of the Post Degree Business Program - Human Resources and recipient of the CHRP designation. She has an extensive management background in the financial services sector.

This roundtable focuses and emphasizes healthy workplace strategies that build employee engagement. The roundtable provides a forum for HR
professionals to share ideas on developing and implementing workplace health practices that promote the health of the organization
and their employees. Building healthy workplaces makes good HR and business sense. Organizations that focus on the health of
their workforce recognize dividends in a variety of areas such as attracting, retaining and improving performance. The roundtable
