The Award of Excellence is the BC Human Resources Management Association's highest honour award for experienced HR practitioners. It recognizes outstanding individuals, teams or organizations whose people practices reflect leadership and innovation that deliver strategic advantage with results. The award has two distinctive categories: fewer than 200 employees and over 200 employees.

The submission deadline for nominations is Friday, February 1st, 2008 at 5:00 pm.

The 2008 Award of Excellence will be presented at the Gala Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 1st during BC HRMA's 46th Annual Conference in Vancouver, BC.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Any individual or HR team (maximum of 4 representatives) that has excelled in implementing innovative and leading people practices within their organization that added strategic and sustainable outcomes is eligible for nomination.

Nominees Must:
  1. Be a BC HRMA member in good standing at the time of nomination. For teams, 3 of the 4 representatives must be members in good standing of BC HRMA.
  2. Work in British Columbia or work for/be an organization with established operations in British Columbia.
  3. Consent in writing to the nomination and publication of both name and photo in connection with the BC HRMA Award of Excellence.
  4. Be available to make a presentation to the judges on a predetermined topic on Tuesday, March 11th 2008 in Vancouver, BC.
  5. Be available to attend the Award presentation during the BC HRMA 46th Annual Conference, on Thursday, May 1st 2008 in Vancouver, BC
 
 

NOMINATION CRITERIA
The BC HRMA Award of Excellence requires a demonstrated level of accomplishment in four different areas. While the nominee may excel in one or more of the four areas, a demonstrated accomplishment in all four is required to receive the award. The committee and judges are looking for a person or team that goes above and beyond generally followed best practices in HR.

The Four Criteria are:
  1. Leadership: The nominee demonstrated leadership and vision in championing people practices and inspiring others to effect positive change. (25%)
  2. Innovation: The accomplishment requires a significant improvement in practice, process or structure of the nominee's organization. (15%)
  3. Strategic Advantage: The accomplishment demonstrates the contribution of the nominee's ability to align HR strategies to organizational strategic goals. (25%)
  4. Results and Sustainability: The accomplishment demonstrates significant and measurable results for a period of time as appropriate for the accomplishment. (35%)
 

SELECTION PANEL
A panel of BC's acknowledged and respected business and organizational leaders will carefully select the award recipients. The distinguished selection panel is comprised of leading CEO's, BC HRMA Board Members, past recipients, senior human resources practitioners and consultants with insight and experience in initiatives and people practices programs.
