The National Knowledge Exam® (NKE) consists of 150 multiple choice questions. Each question lists four possible answers, only one of which is correct. As an addendum to the Knowledge Exam, there may also be a section on provincial legislation affecting HR.
Registration
You must register for the National Knowledge Exam® and National Professional Practice Assessment® (NPPA) separately. After registering and successfully passing the NKE, you can then register for the NPPA.

Candidates must be a member of BC HRMA in good standing in order to write the NKE.
Exam Info
- The exam will be offered the first Saturday in May and October each year unless the date coincides with a religious or major holiday.
- Deadlines for registration to write the CHRP exams are 2 months before the exam date.
- The exam is based on knowledge of major human resources functions.
- Candidates can retake the exam as many times as needed, but with a fee for each sitting.
- The exam fee is non-refundable if registration is canceled after the registration deadline.
- Registrants may defer writing the exam to the next registration date. Please note our deferral policy.

$250.00 + 60.00 (provincial application fee) + 37.20 HST = $347.20
Note: If you are writing the exam outside of Canada, the HST does not apply
