To obtain the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, HR professionals have to complete three important steps:
Step One: Association Membership
To become a CHRP holder, you must be a member of BC HRMA, or the HR association within the province or territory where you live. You must be a member in good standing to write the CHRP exams. Become a member!
Step Two: National Knowledge Exam® (NKE)
The NKE is an exam that assesses one’s understanding of the Required Professional Capabilities (RPCs) as they relate to academic knowledge. Find out more!
Step Three: National Professional Practice Assessment® (NPPA)
The NPPA measures one’s understanding of the RPCs using a situational judgement test. CHRP candidates must register to write the NPPA within five years of passing the NKE. As of January 1, 2011, CHRP candidates will be required to hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university to register for the NPPA and qualify for the CHRP designation.
