The National Professional Practice Assessment® (NPPA) measures one’s understanding of the Required Professional Capabilities (RPCs) using a situational judgement test. CHRP candidates must register to write the NPPA within five years of passing the National Knowledge Exam® (NKE). More details.

New Degree Requirement
As of January 1, 2011, CHRP Candidates – those who have passed the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) - will require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university to register for the NPPA and qualify for the CHRP designation. CHRP Candidates will be required to show proof of a degree when registering for the NPPA. More details.

Fees
$500 + $60 HST = $560.00
Pre-payment is required for the NPPA.
Please note: if you are writing the exam outside of Canada, HST does not apply.

Application
You must register to write the NPPA. Registration deadlines are two months in advance of the exam sessions. CHRP candidates must register for the NPPA within five years of passing the NKE.

Locations
Exam sessions are held in five communities across BC: Burnaby, Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, Victoria. If you are in a remote location or traveling out of province or country, there is an option to arrange a proctor. Please contact chrp@bchrma.org.

Deferrals
Registrants may defer writing the exam to the next sitting. Please note the deferral policy before you submit a deferral form.

Exam Scoring
Exam results are mailed about eight weeks after each exam session. This includes the time needed to receive exams, verify all exam documents have been returned as well as process and score exams. It also allows time for the results to be reviewed and adjusted if necessary.

The Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA) uses the Angoff method in the scoring process for the NKE and National Professional Practice Assessment® (NPPA). More details.
