The Southern Interior Region offers a number of educational, networking and volunteer opportunities throughout the year for HR professionals in Okanagan and other southern interior regions including the Kootenays. Professional development workshops and regular roundtables covering a variety of topics are organized by the Advisory Council to meet the needs of BC HRMA members in this area. Networking opportunities are provided on a regular basis, including monthly "mingles" and two larger annual social events. The region also has an active mentoring program.

The Southern Interior Advisory Council welcomes input from all BC HRMA members who would like to be involved with the growth of HR practice in the region.

The Southern Interior Region includes members from following areas: Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, Armstrong, Castlegar, Coldstream, Cranbrook, Crescent Valley, Creston, Elkford, Falkland, Fernie, Grand Forks, Invermere, Lake Country, Naramata, Nelson, Oliver, Penticton, Revelstoke, Salmon Arm, Sparwood, Summerland, trail, Westbank, Winfield.

Southern Interior Advisory Council

The Southern Interior Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local BC HRMA activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice as follows:

		Roberta Fidalgo, CHRP – Chair Roberta is Assistant Vice President of Human Resources for Valley First Credit Union and has been an Advisory Council Member for eight years. Contact rfidalgo@valleyfirst.com ph: (250) 490-2720
		Cornelia Bujara, CHRP - Incoming Chair Cornelia is a Human Resources Advisor at Okanagan College and has been an Advisory Council Member for three years.
		Jan O’Brien, CHRP Jan is Manager of Institutional Research at Okanagan College and has been an Advisory Council Member for three years.
		Karen Hawes Karen is Regional Manager of Human Resources Services for Interior Savings Credit Union and is in her third year as an Advisory Council Member.
		Mark Hartwick, CHRP Mark is Human Resources Manager at Campion Marine Inc. and is in his first year on the Advisory Council.
		Robert Smithson Robert is a partner with Pushor Mitchell LLP, practicing exclusively in labour and employment law. He is a past member of the Southern Interior Regional Council and has rejoined the Advisory Council in 2007.
		Kathy Holmes, CHRP Kathy is an Employment Counsellor with Greater Trail Community Skills and is in her first year on the Advisory Council
		Adele Glennie, CHRP Adele is owner of Enterprising Partners Consulting. She is a past member of the Southern Interior Advisory Council and has rejoined in 2007.
		Crystal Tillotson Crystal is a student at Okanagan College and is in her first year on the Advisory Council.
