The Fraser Valley Advisory Council provides human resources professionals living or working in the Fraser Valley with a variety of social and professional development opportunities. Roundtables in Surrey, Abbotsford, Langley and Chilliwack, seasonal mingles in Langley and Surrey, professional mentoring and recognition events provide invaluable peer support and networking. Roundtables embrace an informal and inclusive atmosphere that allows practitioners to share ideas, best practices, brainstorm solutions to people problems, investigate effective workplace strategies, and learn about current human resources issues and legislation.

Fraser Valley Advisory Council
The Fraser Valley Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local BC HRMA activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice as follows:

Chair and Public Relations - Heather Johnson, CHRP
Heather is currently the Senior VP, Human Resources for Prospera Credit Union. She has over 20 years of experience in various industries in progressively senior HR roles, and is currently leading all facets of human resources and employee development and training. Heather is in her fourth year serving on the Advisory Council and supports Member Events & Networking, Public Relations and Post Secondary Portfolios. |

Incoming Chair and Mentoring - Karen Ayres, CHRP
Karen is President and Principal of Corporate Inspirations, an executive coaching and consulting firm. She is a strategically skilled change management professional with experience in integration projects for mergers and acquisitions leading high powered complex teams through transition. It is Karen's third year serving on Council. |

Administration - Gena Porcina, CHRP
Gena is the Human Resources Specialist at Community Savings Credit Union. This is her first year as a volunteer with BC HRMA. |

Communications - Pamela Robinson, CHRP
Pamela is a Labour Relations Officer for the British Columbia Nurses' Union (BCNU). Her area of specialty is Labour Relations and Employee Engagement. This is her fourth year serving on the Advisory Council. |

Member Events and Networking - Lyne Moussa, CHRP
Lyne is the Manager of Health and Wellness at Coast Capital Savings Credit Union. This is her third year serving on the Advisory Council. |

Membership - Monica Seymour, CHRP
Monica is an emerging HR practitioner and a recent graduate of the HR program at BCIT. Although she has volunteered on the membership committee, this is her first year of serving on the council. |

Post Secondary Liaison - Don Miskiman, CHRP - UFV, TWU
Don is a professor in the School of Business at the University of the Fraser Valley. He teaches courses in Human Resource Management, coordinates international business programs and conducts research in the areas of comparative HR practices, and workplace ecology and environments. He has been a member of BC HRMA and a CHRP for 15 years and is his second year serving on the Advisory Council. |

Professional Development and CHRP - Jayne Barron, CHRP
Jayne is a Career Development Coach and experienced HR professional. She has volunteered in many organizations at different capacities and it is her first year on the Advisory Council. |

Provincial Awards - Coleen Hunter, CHRP
Coleen is a Senior HR Executive with over 20 years of experience in all aspects of Human Resources in various industries such as Retail, High Tech, and Manufacturing & Food Processing. She has been an Advisory Council Member for five years and has served on the BC HRMA Board of Directors.

Public Relations - Jim McKinlay
Jim is the Managing Partner of the Centre for Strategic Management Inc. He has more than thirty years of experience as a both a senior HR executive and as a consultant, both internally and externally. He is also a published writer having co-authored four books on his four specialties – planning, people, leadership and change. This is his first year on the Advisory Council.
