Professional Development Coordinator
Marie-Chantal Marchand
Coordinates workshops and symposia, including speaker management for the Coastal Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver Regions.
As Professional Development Coordinator, Marie-Chantal’s portfolio includes coordinating workshops, symposia, and forums, including speaker management for the Coastal Vancouver region, as well as roundtables, mingles, and book clubs.
Being an avid photographer, Marie-Chantal can also be spotted taking photos at BC HRMA’s major events. Her professional work can also be seen in various tourism magazines, brochures and websites.
After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Photography, and a few years of graduate work in Visual Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, Marie-Chantal moved to Vancouver to experience life on the ‘other side’ of Canada. Throughout her eclectic career, she has obtained extensive organizational experience in such areas as teaching assistant at Concordia University, running her own catering business in Montreal, and most recently, organizing Meetings & Incentives Corporate Groups for Rocky Mountaineer Vacations in Vancouver where she worked for more than seven years.
Acclimatizing to life on the West Coast meant finding a balance between an academic background in visual arts, Quebec politics, and a more relaxed West Coast lifestyle. Through it all, she has become passionate about the great outdoors and can be seen hiking (and photographing) B.C.’s wonderful mountains, kayaking, mountain and road biking, sailing, skiing and snowshoeing. Her ideal weekend getaway and/or vacation includes a camera, a tent and hiking boots.
