Heather Conn
Editor, PeopleTalk Magazine, Content Management, Publisher/Writer Liaison, Heads PeopleTalk Advisory Committee
As editor of PeopleTalk, Heather Conn chairs the PeopleTalk editorial advisory committee and is responsible for all editorial content, from story assignment to final production.
Outside BC HRMA, she works as a freelance writer/editor and has written for about 50 publications, including The Vancouver Sun and The Edmonton Journal.
Heather has edited non-fiction books, magazines and newsletters and served as corporate communications manager at BC Transit. Her freelance photos have appeared in many books and magazines, including Bella Bella (Harbour Publishing 2004) and White Spirit Bear (Hancock House Publishers 2000).
Heather is co-author of the book Vancouver’s Glory Years, published by Whitecap Books in 2003. She has co-written two short films for Bravo! TV and has written segments for a former CBC children’s television show.
A passionate writing instructor, Heather has taught full-time at Selkirk College and part-time at Simon Fraser University at Harbour Centre, the Vancouver School Board, and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
A resident of both Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, Heather is an avid reader and moviegoer and enjoys outdoor activities (kayaking, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing), adventure travel, and wilderness photography.
She graduated from the University of B.C., where she co-edited the tri-weekly Ubyssey student newspaper.
