Member Relations Manager
(Greater Vancouver & Fraser Valley)
Debra Finlayson, CHRP
Manager and liaison for all programs, events, initiatives and inquiries within the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver region.
Debra comes to BC HRMA in the role of Manager, Member Relations for Fraser Valley and the newly forming Greater Vancouver Region from a combined Marketing and Human Resources background.
Having been a CDA in General Dentistry & Pediatric Oral Surgery, she knows how to care for people on a personal level. Re-igniting her passion for business, she completed a BBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership at Kwantlen University College and successfully executed roles as the Manager of Administrative Services, Marketing & Human Resources, Project Coordinator/On boarding Prime and Software Consultant.
With a people-focused approach and a passion for Human Resources, she acquired her CHRP and an HRM Post Baccalaureate at Kwantlen. Debra relates to the Recruitment & Retention challenges that organizations face being an HR practitioner herself. Her goal is to generate awareness of BC HRMA’s increased service offerings to ensure that HR practitioners have the required tools to perform their roles.
Debra has been active in the South Surrey nonprofit community since 1985 and formed a BBA Scholarship Partnership with Kwantlen. She has also created, planned and hosted education seminars and trade shows and was chosen for the “Leaders of Tomorrow” Mentorship Program with the Vancouver Board of Trade. She continues to volunteer as an HR Advisor with the Red Cross Disaster Management Team and enjoys spending time with her young adult family.
