Anita Hales
IT, Database and Systems Management, Association Policy and Procedures, Privacy Officer
Anita joined BC HRMA in 2001 and has served in a number of technical, communications and operational roles within the organization. She currently manages the association's database and systems, IT projects, and policy and procedures, and has been designated as BC HRMA's Privacy Officer.
Anita graduated from UBC in 1982 with a BA Honours degree in Political Science, followed by two years of post-graduate research in Japanese politics at Oxford University in England and one year at Saitama University in Japan. She then put her education to good use working for the Japanese government in Vancouver for 15 years, during which time she completed a Management Certificate at BCIT. In addition to administrative management, Anita has training and experience in computer technology and information management, which she hopes to use to continue to improve member service at BC HRMA.
Anita has an eclectic mix of interests including mystery novels, movies, hockey, NASCAR, travel and interior design. She speaks Japanese fluently and German relatively fluently, with a smattering of French and Russian for good measure.
