Committees/Chairs
   
BC HRMA is divided into seven geographic areas. Each region is represented by an Advisory Council whose members are committed to meeting the unique needs of their region. Each Advisory Council is made up of BC HRMA members who volunteer their time and expertise to enhance member experience by:

  • ensuring communication between members and the provincial office
  • identifying regional priorities
  • aligning staff and volunteer activities to serve those priorities.
  • providing the structure necessary to coordinate all volunteer activities within the region.
Each Advisory Council is comprised of a four-person executive committee, and nine regular committee positions listed below. The Advisors manage the planning and execution of regional programs aided by both volunteers and BC HRMA staff members.

Executive Committee

  1. Chair – leads the council members to determine the strategic direction for the region as part of its role within the provincial association.
  2. Vice-Chair – is the Past or Incoming Chair and who assists the current Chair.
  3. Provincial Liaison – is an elected position to the Board of Directors, who provides information on provincial initiatives and strategic direction.
  4. BC HRMA Member Services representative - is a staff member at the BC HRMA provincial office.
Other Committees

  1. Membership - recruits and welcomes new members to the Association and to their region.
  2. Volunteering – determines regional needs, solicits volunteers, and provides orientation.
  3. Communications – contributes to the HRVoice, promotes events, and liaises with other regional councils.
  4. Networking Events – coordinates monthly mingles, and other events unique to their region.
  5. Mentoring – responsible for coordinating the BC HRMA mentoring program in their region
  6. Public Relations (Media, Marketing, Community Events) – seeks opportunities to support the community and promote BC HRMA and the CHRP designation within their region.
  7. Sponsorship – identifies potential sponsors and sponsorship opportunities locally.
  8. Professional Development & CHRP – assists in determining specific regional learning needs.
  9. Post Secondary Liaison – acts as liaison between local students and BC HRMA and assists in awards & scholarship decisions.
Volunteer Requirements

All Advisory Council volunteers are expected to:

  • be a BC HRMA member in good standing.
  • make a commitment to the council for at least one year.
  • attend monthly meetings and a variety of regional events.
  • actively participate in the Council’s initiatives by leading and supporting their sub-committee to fulfill portfolio requirements.
