Vancouver Island

The Vancouver Island Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local BC HRMA activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice.

BC HRMA members are encouraged to participate on the Advisory Council or as a volunteer. The Vancouver Island Advisory Council welcomes input from all BC HRMA members who would like to be involved with the growth of HR practice in the region. Your Vancouver Island Advisory Council:

	Chair – Denise Lloyd, CHRP After one year as the Incoming Chair, Denise is now in her first year as the Chair. She is an HR and Management Consultant with her own firm, EngagedHR, and her specialty is working with both the non-profit and corporate hi-tech sectors.
	Incoming Chair - Helen Wale Helen joined the Advisory Council in 2010 in the Communications Portfolio, in 2011 lead the Awards Portfolio, and this year steps into the role of Incoming Chair. Helen is Director – Service Centre, People and Organizational Development with the Vancouver Island Health Authority
	Communications – Beth Harris, CHRP Beth has assisted in the Communications Portfolio as a writer, and in the Networking Portfolio as a Mixer Ambassador before accepting the Lead Role for the Communications Portfolio. Beth works with the Vancouver Island Health Authority as a Disability Management Administrator.
	Membership – Judy Collins, CHRP Judy joined the Advisory Council in 2007 and is responsible for the Membership Portfolio. This portfolio is responsible for calling new members, hosting Member Breakfasts in Victoria and connecting with potential members for Vancouver Island. Judy works with LEAGUE Financial Partners.
	Mentoring - Deborah Lang, CHRP Theresa Carrie, CHRP Carole Gosse, CHRP Deborah, Theresa and Carole make up our Mentoring team for Vancouver Island, hosting Orientations, Mid-Point Learning and Wind-Up sessions, as well as connecting with the Mentoring Pairs throughout the year. Deb is the Director of Organizational Development at the University of Victoria, Theresa is an HR Generalist with Shaw Communications and Carole is an HR Instructor at Camosun College.
	Networking – Kelli Van Leeuwen, CHRP Kelli was part of the Membership Portfolio team, contacting new members when they joined the Association, joined the Advisory Council as the Lead of the Awards Portfolio, and now is leading the Networking Portfolio. Kelli is a Human Resources Advisor at Royal Roads University.
	Post Secondary – Jon Waplington, CHRP Jon joined the Advisory Council in the Post Secondary Portfolio in 2010 after being a strong volunteer with the HR Café, and the VI Student Conference Scholarship winner.
	Professional Development & CHRP – Jolie Wist, CHRP Jolie was the top scorer on the CHRP exam in Fall 2007 and heads up the Professional Development and CHRP Portfolio on Vancouver Island. Jolie is an HR Consultant with the University of Victoria.
	Volunteers – Rebecca Lumley, CHRP This is Rebecca’s second year on the Vancouver Island Advisory Council and she is responsible for the recruitment, placement and engagement of volunteers working with the various portfolios. She is an Organizational Development Consultant with the Ministry of Justice.
