Greater Vancouver
The Greater Vancouver Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local BC HRMA activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice.
BC HRMA members are encouraged to participate on the Advisory Council and/or provide suggestions and ideas of local interest. The Greater Vancouver Advisory Council welcomes input from all BC HRMA members who would like to be involved with the growth of HR practice in the region. A call for volunteers on the Council is made in the spring each year.

Chair and Sponsorship – Gene Lang, CHRP
Gene is the Vice President of Franchise Development for Dominion Lending Centres Inc. He has worked as an HR Generalist primarily with small businesses in high-tech and engineering and currently oversees all aspects of HR Management and Compliance for this national franchisor of mortgage brokerages. He began serving on the Seed Advisory Council in October 2008 |

Incoming Chair – Rochester (Rocky) Ozaki, CHRP
Rocky is the Director of Human Resources for BCAA (British Columbia Automobile Association). He has been a senior HR professional since 2002, after spending 7-years in senior operational roles in tourism & hospitality. This is his first year on the GV Advisory Council. |

Administrator – Mable Lo
Mable is a Human Resources Advisor at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree specializing in Sociology and has completed a Certificate in Human Resources Management at Simon Fraser University. This is Mable’s first year on the GV Advisory Council. |

Awards – Brenda Kennedy, CHRP
Brenda is the Director of Human Resources, Western Canada for Compass Group Canada. She has worked as a HR professional for 13 years in the private and public sectors since receiving her Master’s degree in Industrial Relations. This is her second year on the Greater Vancouver council. |

CHRP and Professional Development – Nicole Burke, CHRP
Nicole is a Human Resources Advisor at the Vancouver Aquarium. Nicole has worked in various progressive positions in the HR field over the last 8 years. It is Nicole’s second year on the Advisory Council. |

Communications – Elena Romero, CHRP
Elena is the Manager, Staffing Services at The Personnel Department. She is a graduate of the HR Diploma Program from the BCIT and also holds her B.A. in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. This is her third year on Council. |

Communications – Sam Bath
Sam Bath is currently the Director, Human Resources for Compass Group Canada and has over 15 years’ experience gained in variety of industries such as telecommunications, banking and retail fashion. She has held senior level positions in Human Resources, Marketing and Operations and has a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC specializing in Human Resources. This is her first year on the GV Advisory Council. |

Membership – Oson Kin On Chan, CHRP
Oson graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Human Resources Management. He is currently working as Human Resources Administrator with Kohl & Frisch Limited. It is Oson’s third year on Council. |

Mentoring – Marie Gonzales, CHRP
Marie is the Human Resources Manager for Organizational Effectiveness and Engagement Initiatives at Douglas College. A Human Resources professional with over 20 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors, her focus is on the essential levers of individual and organizational productivity and success. |

Networking & Member Events – Shandele Yuen
Shandele is a Recruitment Assistant for The Counsel Network®, based in their Vancouver office. She is currently completing her Human Resources Management Certificate at BCIT. This is her third year on Council. |

Post-Secondary – Scott Hanley, CHRP Candidate
Scott is a recent graduate with Honours from the Human Resources Management two-year diploma program at the BCIT and the BC HRMA Student Representative. He is working as a Human Resource Assistant (Temp) at Sulzer. This is his first year on the GV Advisory Council. |

Patrick is a Recruiter at Korn/Ferry Futurestep. He graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Business Administration. This is his first year on the GV Advisory Council. |

Govind is a Recruiter for Staples Canada. His area of specialty and interest is recruitment and employee retention/engagement. It is Govind’s third year on the GV council. |
